Hello,
With it being the modern age and the constant advancements of technology, it is important to update/upgrade how we access our important data. We have created extra steps of signing in security for various platforms such as two factor authentication, Sign in prompts to allow/deny logins and a newer type called PAT's (Personal Access Token).
Single factor authentication has protected what we hold dear (online) for years but with the rapid advancements of technology, it just is not quite enough to keep out bad actors and threats. We have helped increase security over time with additional sign-on requirements such as 2-factor authentication. Two factor authentication requires something you have and something you know so if a bad actor gets your password and username, they will be blocked because of this additional security step. The more steps the better or, really, the more in-depth the step of security, the better.
Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) offers a really secure way to verify your logins and keep out unwanted guests on your accounts, if offered. Software such as ID.me is a great solution requiring you to login into an additional "hub" of all your accounts through a secure third-party software (website) before accessing the initial sign on page. This may seem like it would be difficult or time consuming, but it is honestly just an extra sign in page for another sign in page.
Best Regards,
Devin Powell
